Australian Catholic Bishops Conference
ACBC is comprised of all the Catholic Bishops in Australia. This website provides statements and submissions relating to human rights, justice and peace, migration and refugees, and includes links to the Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office, Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, and the Bishops' Committee for Justice, Development and Peace.
Australian Human Rights Centre (AHRC)
AHRC is a research institute based in the Faculty of Law, University of New South Wales. It provides a searchable online database, information relevant to refugee law in Australia, and links to Australian Journal of Human Rights, Human Rights Defender, and Guide to the Optional Protocol. Links to other Australian and international human rights resources on the internet are also provided.
Australian Lawyers for Human Rights (ALHR)
ALHR is a network of Australian lawyers interested in furthering awareness and advocacy of human rights in Australia. Information on their campaigns on the UN Special Session on Children, a NSW Bill of Rights, a variety of Federal legislation, and the International Criminal Court can be found at the this website. Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA)
DIMA is the Australian Federal Government department responsible for administering the entrance and settlement of people to Australia. This website provides information and resources on immigration detention and legislation, as well as immigration and settlement publications, research, and statistics.
Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT)
The RRT is an independent body established by the Australian Government in 1993. The RRT reviews individual decisions made by DIMA concerning refugees in Australia. This website describes their role and work, and links to RRT decisions and publications, Tribunal statistics and other refugee resources.
Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC)
HREOC is a national independent statutory and government body established in 1986. Matters which can be investigated by the commission include discrimination on the grounds of race, colour or ethnic origin, racial vilification, sex, sexual harassment, marital status or disability.
