A New Look for 25 Years of Mercy

General|

From its beginnings in 2001, the Mercy Works logo has evolved to reflect our mission and growth.

In the original design by the late Anne McMillan rsm, a central cross acknowledges our Indigenous brothers and sisters and is grounded in our world, yet open and outward-looking to wherever mercy calls us. The stylised Mercy Cross (depicted as outer radiating leaves) is also irregular in shape, symbolising both an affinity with the inner cross and a responsiveness to diverse needs.

In 2008, a new strategic direction for Mercy Works, to focus overseas programs in the Asia–Pacific region, was ratified by the Board. Under the leadership of the late Mary Duffy rsm, the logo evolved again, returning to the traditional Mercy Cross, now positioned alongside the globe to highlight our connection with this part of the world.

As Mercy Works celebrates 25 years of compassion and service, our new logo captures the spirit of our story. The timeless Mercy Cross sits at its heart. A flowing green and purple path-like swish sybolises the journey we share—Walking Together. Changing Lives—with green representing new life, and purple path-like swish symbolises the journey we share – with green representing growth and new life, and purple reflecting dignity, empowerment and the enduring spirit of mercy.

Together, these elements embody who we are: walking side by side, creating lasting change, and celebrating 25 years of mercy in motion.
